THE HAIR THAT LAUNCHED A BUSINESS
I’d been working on my coaching business for a good part of the year — gaining the education and credentials, building a website, creating a business strategy and plan, and doing the groundwork for social media content.
All systems were ready to go! But toward the tail end of the process, I still found myself completely stuck in launch paralysis — that familiar fear many entrepreneurs face when stepping into visibility.
If you’ve ever wrestled with perfectionism in business or struggled to publish on social media or step into new territory, you’ll know the feeling — overthinking, fear of judgment, and anxiety over any wrong step can take over.
In my case, my brain was fixated on tiny details like the perfect date to go “live” (October 1 sounds nicer than September 27), and trying to get every single detail in perfect order to post.
Then one morning, I looked in the mirror and noticed a fine grey hair hanging out by the side of my right cheek. It felt like it was staring right at me, and asking me, “So, when is the perfect moment to go live?”
I laughed, because in that exact moment, I realised, the answer was obvious: now.
time waits for no one
Fact: we all get older, our hairs get more grey, and if we keep waiting, one day we’ll realise an enormous amount of time has passed us by.
After that poetic little nudge, I clicked “Post” on the Instagram draft I’d been hoarding — and what happened next was amazing.
I felt calm and proud that I’d crossed a “finish line” I’d set for myself
I felt immense joy, awe, and gratitude — the support I got was positive and friends, old and new, reached out with encouragement.
Most importantly: I moved forward and launched my business.
WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW?
Let that grey hair be a lesson to us all — there is no perfect time to do anything, and time really is our greatest but most finite asset. Use time wisely.
